Basics of Bookbinding

Learn how to make beautiful blank books! In this workshop, we will complete three simple projects: a basic pamphlet-bound book, an accordion fold book, and a simple hardcover. You’ll leave with at least three books that you have crafted yourself, and the knowledge and essential skills to make many more in endless variations.

Melanie Brauner was the owner and bookbinder at Trove Bindery in Corvallis, Oregon, specializing in restoration and custom archival boxes, and holds a BFA in Book Arts from Oregon College of Art and Craft. She is the owner of VERSO, a bookbinding, papermaking, and jewelry studio in Shoreline, Washington.
